The Dallas Todywalla-trained Ruffina, ridden by David Allan, ridiculed her nine rivals as she displayed electrifying acceleration to sweep past a field of classy sprinters to win the grade 2, Dr S C Jain Sprinters' Championship, the feature event of Saturday's eight-race card at the Mahalaxmi racetrack.
Racing as half-money favourite, the Excellent Art - Miss Danehill filly carrying the Poonawalla silks relaxed away from the hot pace set by Lincoln (A Sandesh up) who had no answer when Ruffina whizzed past him in the final furlong to draw away for a comfortable victory in 1 minute 09.69 seconds, which missed the existing record by only 0.14 seconds.
Trevor Patel emerged as star jockey with three winners on the card, while veteran trainer Imitaz Sait (who was away at Kolkata where he won the feature event with Winter Renaissance) scored a brace.
