Gold Coast: A poisonous snake sent fans fleeing as it slithered near to the playing field of a National Rugby League match in Australia on Monday.

A three-foot (one metre) Eastern Brown snake slithered onto the grass between the playing field and the stands in a corner of the Gold Coast stadium 10 minutes into the first half of the NRL match between the Gold Coast Titans and the North Queensland Cowboys.
Fans in the vicinity quickly moved to higher ground away from the creature, which is renowned for its speed and aggression.
The Eastern Brown snake is considered the world's second most venomous land-based snake after the Inland Taipan, which is also native to Australia.
The game continued despite the snake's presence and it eventually disappeared down a drain.
The Titans went on to win the game 13-12.
