SA pacers are in good rhythm: Centurion Nayar

Abhishek Nayar has seen the best and worst side of cricket this season. At the start, he did not know from where his next run will come from and then after an injury break, he is raining runs in torrents.

Yesterday, he hit another high when he scored a brilliant counter-attacking hundred against the visiting South Africans on the opening day of the tour game at Nagpur. Nayar's hundred helped Board President's XI score 318. "I have always done pretty well against fast bowling so I relished the challenge, this was surely the quickest attack I have faced," Nayar told MiD DAY.

"It should help my confidence and I am pretty satisfied with my performance," he added. With the South Africans playing at near full-strength, Nayar was in a good position to provide an insight into what the Indian batsmen can expect in the Test series starting on February 6 at Nagpur. "It's a very good attack. They bowled in short spells, were quite sharp and pretty much in rhythm," he said.

As for his prediction for the Test series, "a lot will depend on how the Nagpur wicket will be like and how much help the bowlers get. Today's wicket had good pace and carry. But Test cricket is a completely different ball game than a practice tie."
