Sania Mirza pairing with Bethanie Mattek-Sands, seeded 13 in the ladies doubles draw cruised into the third round at Wimbledon yesterday. The Indo-American beat the French pair of Stephanie Foretz Gacon and Kristina Mladenovic in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 in the second round match.
The unseeded French pair fumbled throughout the match against their seasoned opponents. Sania took the lead as she opened serve and from then on the pair ruled throughout. Finding their touch on grass, Sania and Mattek got aggressive in the eighth game of the first set, coming up with some heavy returns to break the opposition serve and then hold onto theirs to take the set.

Sania and Mattek were easily the better pair, having reached the round 16 in Rome and then going on to win the title in Brussels title followed by a first round exit in the French Open.
Once the Indo-American had the first set under their belt, they opened up in Set Two and broke serve twice, the second time in Game Seven after which they confidently held serve to clinch victory.u00a0
