In a bid to help these working mums, Serena has joined a Chicago-based start-up, The Mom Project, as strategic advisor. The 23-time Grand Slam champion, will help professional companies hire working mums through an online project. "I'm calling on CEOs, Heads of People and Business Leaders big and small. If you're hiring, are you considering hiring moms? Together, we can influence how work gets done and build a better workplace," said the former World No. 1.
Since it began in 2016, the company has helped over 100,000 working mums get employed in some of the world's leading corporate firms like Facebook, Nike, Uber, Apple and Twitter among others.
