Indian tennis player Somdev Devvarman lost in straight sets in the first round of the men’s singles event here at the Erste Bank Open.


Devvarman, who is trying to make a comeback from a shoulder injury, went down to Ernests Gulbis of Latviau00a06-7(6), 3-6 in one hour and 43 minutes yesterday.


This was the sixth consecutive first round loss for the 27-year-old who is ranked 579 in the world. He has lost all singles matches since making a comeback at the London Olympics. u00a0
