New Delhi: Expressing serious concerns over double trap shooter Ronjan Sodhi's claims that he was mistreated by the officials of Sports Ministry, Union Sports Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday said that he will look into the matter and ensure that a positive environment is created for sportspersons.

"We are always there to support our athletes. That's why we have started this particular scheme (Target Olympic Podium). We will look into the matter. We will never create environment where player have an embarrassing situation," said Sonowal, while asserting the ministry's commitment to backing the sportspersons.
"This is a very serious matter. We will put our everything to help out our players," the Minister added.
Sodhi had said that he was denied training funds despite receiving sanction from the same ministry.
Considered as one of India's medal hopeful in Rio, 2013 Khel Ratna awardee Sodhi is currently undergoing training in Italy at his own expense for the final Olympic qualifier.
