Khushroo Dhunjibhoy and his team, who had named their election campaign 'Race for Change', returned to power after a gap of one year, defeating the Vivek Jain panel 5-4 during the elections to the managing committee of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) yesterday at the 99th AGM of the race club.

Jain, the outgoing chairman, however, topped the voting charts for a record 11th year, garnering 916 of the 1,306 valid votes.
"I have a big task ahead of fulfilling my manifesto," Dhunjibhoy told mid-day after winning the election, "and I am going work hard for it."
In a separate election, Shivlal Daga (809 votes) and Ashiwn Mehta (696 votes) returned as winners for the two seats of the board of appeal of the club.
Khushroo Dhunjibhoy was elected as chairman of the club. Shyam Ruia was elected as chairman of the stewards' body.
