TEMERITY, the Intense Focus - Normina four-year-old filly who had flopped when racing as favourite in the Indian 1000 Guineas last month, made amends when it mattered most, and won the grade 1, Villoo Poonawalla Indian Oaks, the main event of yesterday's seven-race card.

In the process, she decisively beat her conqueror-stablemate Mrs Patmore over the mile-and-a-half trip of what is popularly called the "Ladies' Derby". Temerity is owned by Shyam Ruia, Amay Ruia and Bergis Minoo Desai, and trained by Pesi Shroff, who finished one-two in the race, having saddled both winner and the runner-up.
