London: Former US Open finalist, Pam Shriver (54) told BBC Radio 5's Sportsweek programme that Romania Fed Cup captain Ilie Nastase (70) made inappropriate comments to her when she was a teenager. "Whenever I saw him at any tournament, he'd ask me if I was a virgin. He has not been respectful of women for a long, long time," said Shriver.

Nastase was thrown out of Great Britain's Fed Cup tie in Constanta for abusive behaviour. On Friday, he first asked British captain Anne Keothavong for her room number. Then, on Saturday, when Keothavong complained about noise from the crowd while Johanna Konta was playing Romania's Sorana Cirstea in the second rubber of the World Group II play-off, Nastase abused Keothavong. Former World No. 1 Nastase yelled at umpire Jaume Campistol: "What's your f***ing problem?" He then called Keothavong and Konta "f***ing bitches" before he was eventually escorted out of venue by securitymen.
