In the backdrop of a large number of CISF jawans committing suicide, the Mumbai Airport authorities, in what is being described as a first-ever attempt, organised a session to boost the morale of the highly-stressed jawans. The session saw hockey legend Dhanraj Pillay giving a motivational talk to the Central Industrial Security Force unit at their Kalina campus of Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport.

The former captain of the Indian hockey team spoke to over 1000 jawans and officers of the force during the session that began at around 5.30pm on Friday. The entire session revolved around dealing with stress on a daily basis, whether on or of duty.

Pillay supported his points with examples from his life and asked the jawans to not feel disappointed when under pressure of over worked.

The hockey legend told them that physical fitness and mental alertness were the basic requirements to achieve any success in life. “Whatever you do, put your heart and mind into that purpose. Dedicate yourself 100% to that goal,” said the Olympian.

"You must have the strength to bear long hours of practice sessions and master the techniques," exhorted the Arjun awardee player.

It should be noted that there have been rise in the number of CISF jawans committing suicide since the past few months.

The Padma Shri awardee even offered his services to train the CISF personnel in hockey in small batches of 25 every morning in order to help them fight stress.
