Tsonga will face German 27th seed Philipp Kohlschreiber, who beat US qualifier Brian Baker 6-1, 7-6 (7/4), 6-3, for a place in the semi-finals. David Ferrer reached his first Wimbledon quarter-final beating Argentina’s Juan Martin del Potro 6-3, 6-2, 6-3.

Lisicki knocked out
Meanwhile, in women’s singles Angelique Kerber defeated Sabine Lisicki 6-3, 6-7 (7/9), 7-5 yesterday to reach her first semi-final here. Lisicki had shocked Maria Sharapova on Monday.
