Varun Seth fought back splendidly to get the better of Sanay Vora and make it to the last eight in the cadet boys singles category of the MCDTTA-All Mumbai major ranking table tennis tournament, sponsored by Bajaj Group, co-sponsored by Pidilite and Welspun at Matunga Gymkhana yesterday. Varun trailed 1-2 before he tightened his game to turn the tables on Sanay to score a 6-11, 11-9, 13-15, 11-9, 11-6 victory. In the cadet girls' category, top seed Vallari Thombre took her time to settle down and dropped the first game before she overcoming a spirited challenge from Antara Jaggi 8-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-2. Simran Haria, too, was made to fight hard by Anisha Mhatre before she prevailed 11-7, 7-11, 11-8, 11-6.
