But there is one man who had predicted the defeat hours in advance. Neerav Tomar, CEO of Infinity Optimal Solutions (IOS), the company that manages the star boxer, had told Sunday MiD DAY on Friday itself that the Indian pugilist would lose later that night.

On Saturday, after losing to Atoev 3-7, the 23-year-old pugilist told PTI: "I was sure of beating Atoev but don't know what went wrong. I'm still trying to figure it out."
According to Tomar the fact that Vijender spent valuable time discussing a commercial deal hours before an important fight, showed he was not concentrating on the bout. "All the discussions have happened today (Friday). I don't understand how he could do all these dealings a few hours before w World Championship quarter-final. Naturally, Vijender has been lured by big money. And with money on his mind there is no way he can be focused on tonight's fight," Tomar said.
It is learnt that Tomar not only attended Vijender's bout in Milan but also kept his staff at the Delhi office on stand-by, ready to prepare a news release incase Vijender won.
Sadly, he didn't but made history nevertheless by winning India's first bronze medal at the World Championships.
