WWE SmackDown Live had two huge superstars John Cena and WWE world champion AJ Styles in a face-off ahead of their Royal Rumble match scheduled on Sunday.
WWE Champion AJ Styles called out John Cena and voiced his opinion about the Royal Rumble poster and where he was positioned. After Joh Cena entered the ring, AJ Styles called him a sorry excuse for a wrestler. Cena retaliated saying while AJ has been in the spotlight for 6 months, Cena himself has carried the WWE company for over a decade. Cena also told Styles that he holds the WWE title because Cena let him. Cena and Styles will face each other for the WWE world title at the Royal Rumble.
Dean Ambrose defended his Intercontinental title against The Miz in a lumberjack match at SmackDown Live's main event. As Miz's wife Maryse interfered, Miz got a near-fall. Ambrose then performed a dive outside the ring onto all WWE wrestlers. Baron Corbin later attacked Dean Ambrose and a huge brawl erupted. Ambrose then pinned Miz with Dirty Deeds to retain his title.
Randy Orton faced his Wyatt Family brother Luke Harper in a match with Bray Wyatt at ringside. Randy Orton hit the RKO on Luke Harper to win the match. Later, Bray Wyatt helped Luke Harper up only to hit him with sister Abigail.
WWE Diva Mickey James, who made her return to SmackDown Live last week, came out and spoke about her feat as a 5-time Women's champion as well as a WWE Divas chmapion. Becky Lynch then showed up and began a fight with Mickey James only to be attacked by Alexa Bliss.
Dolph Ziggler defeated Kalisto in their match and later attacked him. Apollo Crews came in for the save. Mojo Rawley won a battle royale match for a spot at the Royal Rumble 2017 event.
