IES Raja Shivaji have had a dream run in the Harris Shield this season
IES Raja Shivaji have had a dream run in the Harris Shield this season. They saw off former champions Swami Vivekanand International, Borivali, Shardashram Vidyamandir Marathi, IES VN Sule Guruji, Dadar and Dr Antonio D'Silva High School. Twice, they didn't get the first innings lead and yet went on to win those games. Now, they face a formidable Springfield Rizvi in their first ever Harris Shield final at the Brabourne Stadium today.
Raja Shivaji were just promoted to the Elite Division this season. Skipper Jatin Gavand hailed his team's performance in the tournament. "It has been an unexpected journey. Most of the teams, who get promoted don't have high expectations and neither did we.
"But, what we have achieved so far is due to a team effort. We don't have highest wicket-takers or run-getters, but a bunch of players, who stuck to their task and did well," said Gavand.
Raja Shivaji coach Pratik Nagwekar is confident that his side will do well against an impressive Rizvi outfit who are trying to complete a hat-trick of titles. "Just like any other side, we too have a few plans in store for them. I hope we put up a good show tomorrow," said Nagwekar.
