"Doing this show 'Celebrity Rehab' was one of the best decisions I've ever made," the New York Daily News quoted Uchitel as saying.
"It has given me an opportunity to deal with some major trauma I've held onto for years.
"Nothing about it was a 'show' for me," she said of the visit with Pinsky by her side.
The 35-year-old former nightclub hostess, who wrangled celebs at Marquee and Stanton Social before the Woods sex scandal, was planning her marriage to banker James Andrew O''Grady when the second hijacked plane hit the trade centre on Sept. 11, 2001.
She was among the desperate droves who scoured lower Manhattan for missing loved ones and was captured in an iconic Associated Press photo that laid bare the grief of thousands.

Two years later, Uchitel suffered a "massive breakdown," she later told the New York Times.
"I felt like everyone else had forgotten about it. I was resentful," she said.
"Rachel has told friends that was when her life began to unravel, after she lost James," a source told RadarOnline.com.
"The [Ground Zero] visit was extremely emotional for Rachel, but it did give her a sense of closure, as much as someone can have that has lost someone under such horrific circumstances," said the source.
