India thrice surrendered the lead against New Zealand to go down 3-7 in their last league encounter of the Azlan Shah Cup hockey tournament wednesday. The defeat crushed India's hopes of making the final. Sunil Sowmarpet, Gurwinder Singh Chandi and Gurwinder Chandi scored were on target for India. Meanwhile, World champions Australia booked their place in the final after they held on to defeat Great Britain 2-1 in a top-of-the-table clash. Australia will most likely meet either Great Britain or Pakistan in the final. Both have nine points.
