Los Angeles: New York Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia has been arrested on a domestic violence charge after featuring in a new advertising campaign aimed at combating the social scourge, court filings in New Jersey revealed on Tuesday.

Familia, an All-Star closer, was arrested at an apartment in the New Jersey town of Fort Lee early Monday. According to a complaint filed at a court in Fort Lee, Familia is alleged to have caused "bodily injury to another."

His accuser, whose name was redacted from the report, suffered a scratch to the chest and a bruised right cheek.
