Uzbekistan’s Javokhir Sindarov and China’s Wei Yi will face each other in the final of the FIDE Chess World Cup after winning their respective semi-finals here on Sunday.

Sindarov forced compatriot Nodirbek Yakubboev to resign after 47 moves in the first rapid game, before drawing the second game to progress, while Yi drew his first rapid game with Russia’s Andrey Esipenko and then beat him in the second to advance. Both Sindarov and Yi also qualified for the FIDE Candidates tournament next year.
