An exciting eight-race card is on offer for Sunday at the Mahalaxmi racecourse with the grade 1, Poonawalla Breeders' Multi-Million as the feature event. The richest juvenile race in the country offers Rs 1.45 crore as total stakes, of which the winner will take home a cool Rs 87 lakh. Needless to mention, the battle will be fiercely fought by all the 11 three-year-olds in the fray.
The line up boasts of all potential champions in training at the moment (with exception of Kolkata-based Black Pearl, who unfortunately was not entered for this race as a yearling), and topping the list is Forest Flame (Leitir Mor - Memory Bay), trained by S S Attaollahi. With two easy wins from as many starts, Forest Flame simply towers over her rivals with the possible exception of the Padmanabhan-trained Golden Oaks (Leitir Mor - Messalina) who seems to have tremendously improved after her defeat at the hands of Forest Flame on debut. Golden Oaks' victory on the Derby day at Mahalaxmi was as impressive as Forest Flame's win on the same day in the Breeders' Produce Stakes. If at her best on Sunday, Golden Oaks may go very close to Forest Flame this time.
