Three-year-old Jeremiah, who only ten days ago won the Deccan Derby (Gr 1) at Hyderabad in record time, will be installed as a hot favourite for the grade 1, Nanoli Stud Pune Derby, the stellar attraction of today's nine-event card.
Trained by Pesi Shroff and to be ridden by S Zervan, Jeremiah, on the strength of his current form and fitness, has an outstanding chance to win the rich event.
In a recent interesting development, “big bull” of Indian stock markets Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has bought a stake in Jeremiah, along with Jaydev Mody. The horse, however, will continue to race in the silks of original owner Haresh Mehta.
Jeremiah will have 11 rivals, notable among whom are the Malesh Narredu-trained trio of Falcon, Bombardier and Hawker, all carrying the silks of Jaydev Mody. However, the Imtiaz Sait-trained Majestic Reward and Karthik-trained The Ministerian could vie with the trio for a minor place.
