Czech tennis star Karolina Pliskova, who married her agent Michal Hrdilicka in Monte Carlo last July, said that her wedding was a 'surprise' to the world because she didn't want to talk about it. The news was shocking to many as Pliskova announced her engagement at the US Open last year, but kept the wedding date a secret.

"We had been planning it for, let's say two, three months. We had it [wedding] in Monaco, so you had to plan few things — the dress and everything. For me, I just didn't want to talk about it. That's why for you guys, it was a surprise. It was not stressful at all," Pliskova told Tennis World USA. When asked if marriage was at the back of her mind during the tournaments she played before the wedding, the World No. 9 replied: "No, it was something I was looking forward to happening. It was a very small wedding.
