The impressive runs of Indian challengers Sahaja Yamalapalli and Rutuja Bhosale came to an end. Both, Yamalapalli and Bhosale went down fighting in their pre-quarter-finals of the L&T Mumbai Open WTA 125K Series Tennis Championships at the CCI courts on Thursday.

Yamalapalli, 23, a wild card entrant and ranked 336, suffered a 6-1, 3-6, 5-7 defeat to 162nd ranked Russian Polina Kudermetova, 20. Meanwhile, eighth seed Katie Volynets defeated Bhosale, another wildcard entrant, 7-6(8), 2-6, 6-1.
