The sixth seed made it into the third round as he bounced back from dropping the first set to knock out home favourite Arnaud Clement.<br /><br />Verdasco triumphed 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 in a match which featured nine breaks of serve, six of them from the Spaniard.<br /><br />Earlier, David Nalbandian swept aside Marcel Granollers to set up a second-round meeting with Andy Murray.<br /><br />The Argentine cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 win over his Spanish opponent, who last weekend reached the final at the Valencia Open.<br /><br />Nalbandian broke five times on his way to a comfortable victory in one hour seven minutes and will now play third seed Murray.
