RWITC may allow telephonic gambling on races at Pune, Mumbai

MiD DAY has learnt from reliable sources, both in the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) Ltd, that punters betting on the races conducted at Pune and Mumbai by the race club are set to get an extra option: betting over the telephone.

Sources have toldu00a0MiD DAY that the proposal has already been routed through all relevant government departments, and is just waiting for a final nod from the state home ministry.u00a0However, when MiD DAY contacted Vivek Jain, chairman of RWITC, about the development, he neither confirmed nor denied it.
