India’s ace cueist and World No 74, Aditya Mehta won the third round match at the qualifying stages of the International Open Tournament here yesterday with a thrilling 6-5 victory over Jimmy White.

Trailing behind in the first session with 1-3, Mehta recovered with breaks of 79 and 69 to level things 3-3 at the interval. Then, once again going 3-5 down, Mehta rallied with a 53 break before clinching Frame No 10 on the pink for 5-5. In the decider frame, White had the first opportunity, Mehta put up an excellent 73 to snatch victory.
