Thirteen three-year-old fillies have lined up for the Deltin Casinos Indian 1000 Guineas (Gr 1), the stellar attraction of Sunday's nine-race card. Besides a trophy worth Rs 1,25,000, the total stakes on offer will be Rs 5.25 million, of which the winner will take home a cool Rs 3.15 million.
Cooji Katrak-trained Starry Eyes, who bounced back to form with an effortless victory on the opening day here, will be the most in demand. Trainer Pesi Shroff has entered four fillies in the fray: Amelia, Mariinsky, Circle Of Life and Sheer Class, the first two are being looked upon as main threats to Starry Eyes.
Another talented filly, Beforememoryfades trained by Nosher Cama, may be termed the proverbial dark horse. My choice is Starry Eyes, who should be able to prevail over Mariinsky, Amelia and Circle Of Life.
All the nine races on the card appear to be extremely competitive and no horse commands the best bet status. However, followers of Manyatta, Port Blair and Dreams Of You may hope to return home with some profit.
First race at 1.30 pm.
