Dilip Vengsarkar XI defeated Ravi Shastri XI on the basis of a first innings lead to clinch the U-14 IDBI Federal Insurance Cup after the two-day game ended in a draw at Mahul yesterday. Vengsarkar XI emerged winners due to a better net run-rate.

Yash Kripal (3-10) and Omkar Nandiwadekar (3-39) were the pick of the bowlers for Vengsarkar XI as they skittled out Shastri XI for 101 to take the crucial first innings lead. Vengsarkar XI scored 255 in their first innings, thanks to half-centuries from Musheer Khan (62) and Aditya Bawiskar (58). In their second essay, Vengsarkar XI were 72-4 when stumps were drawn.
