India's Somdev Devvarman fought through rain interruptions to win his men's singles first round match against Slovak Lukas Lacko at the US Open tennis here at Flushing Meadows
Somdev, who led two sets to one when rain interrupted the match, returned to clinch it over five sets, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, in three hours 11 minutes Wednesday.
The Indian next plays World No.20 Italian Andrea Seppi, who overcame Belgian veteran Xavier Malisse in four hard-fought sets, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
