A seven races are slated on the opening day's card at the Mahalaxmi racetrack today, and there is good chance most good type 3-year-olds with good fitness will carry favouritism to victory in their respective races. However, the bookmakers are likely to quote miserly odds on them, so the first day's proceedings are best watched without any betting interest.
Eight class II runners will go over the scurry of 1000 meters in the Sir Charles Forbes Trophy, and any horse who hopes to win this race will have to beat the Dallas Todywalla-trained 3y old Victoria Harbour. Of course, Victoria Harbour may not have a cakewalk for sure, what with the only other 3y old, Brahmachari, also bidding for a hat-trick after two straight sprint victories at Pune, Mine Forever having returned to winning form in last start, and the older dark horse Spider Man having just whiled away his time during the monsoon. However, Victoria Harbour has both class and form on her side, and therefore, is expected to triumph over this set.
