Chile secured a first World Cup win in 48 years by edging Honduras 1-0 yesterday through a late first-half goal from striker Jean Beausejour. But coach Marcelo Bielsa was not completely satisfied. "I think we deserved to win ufffd though we should have scored more goals," said Bielsa, who guided Argentina to the 2004 Olympic title. Bielsa noted the Hondurans had suffered a blow on the eve of the game when striker Julio Cesar de Leon had to pull out of the event through injury. "That robbed them of some of their effectiveness," he said. Bielsa added he left out his top striker Humberto Suazo, who has been getting over a leg injury, as "he has not been able to train properly for quite a while" and was not therefore match fit. Striker Alexis Sanchez agreed with his coach. "Thank God, Honduras did not come back to level matters but it is true we should have been out of sight," he said. Alexis Mendoza, deputising in the Honduran dugout for suspended coach Reinaldo Rueda, admitted that the loss "is not a good start ufffd but their goal was somewhat fortuitous."
