World No. 2 Coco Gauff suffers first-round loss to No. 42 Dayana Yastremska; feels last month’s French Open victory compromised her preparation for SW19

Coco Gauff pledged to do things differently next time after crashing out of Wimbledon in the first round on Tuesday, just weeks after winning the French Open.
The US World No. 2 was beaten 7-6 (7/3), 6-1 by Ukranian World No. 42 Dayana Yastremska. Gauff, who has won two majors, was expected to make a strong run at the All England Club after her triumph at Roland Garros in June.
However, instead of building on her success on the Paris clay, the 21-year-old endured her earliest Grand Slam exit since another first-round loss at Wimbledon in 2023.
