Snap Judgement- A quick verdict on the buzz

Terribly yours
If you can find something online for free, then it better be worth paying for offline. Like porn. Like music. Or Terribly Tiny Tale's new book, published by Penguin. Priced at R250, the book is a compilation of the best of micro-fiction made popular by Terribly Tiny Tales (TTT), the online platform by Anuj Gosalia and Chintan Ruparel. Here is why we won't be buying it: there is just no innovation. The book feels and reads like a drab reproduction of TTT's online presence. The compilation of stories could be a hit or miss. You may want to add this book to your stock only if you are crushing on TTT. Else, stick to the app.
Dogra, just don't
We are reeling from Monica Dogra's painful rendition of Abida Parveen's Naraye Mastana. The song, which released last week, is badly mixed and we can barely hear Dogra's vocals. When we do hear them, we are just left wondering why is Dogra doing this to us. The song, which uses genres such as trap and dub step, just manages to make a mess of a beautiful melody. We love experimental musicians, but we do wish Dogra had stuck to her Shaa'ir and Func sound.
In high contrast
If you want to have a real conversation about art, then we suggest you make a trip to Sakshi Gallery. Works by two Vadodara-based artists, Ankush Safaya and Jeetander Ojha are on view in a show called The Sacred and the Profane. Ojha's works are diametrically opposite Safaya's. Ojha uses human hair in his works, which can come across as disconcerting, if not grotesque. Safaya, on the other hand, is minimal and precise. In an evolved coming together of two very different works, the exhibition is a must-visit, before it closes on October 6.
