The Asus ZenBeam Go E1Z is pricey but makes up for it
Asus has been one of the forerunners in the portable projector space, which is why it's not surprising to see the ZenBeam Go E1Z. It is compact enough to fit in one's palm and while it's pocketability is debatable, the E1Z easily slips into a small bag. The projector weighs 307g and looks elegant in gold finish with ports at the back, a lens slideon the front and focus wheel on the side. There's even a tripod socket at the bottom that makes it easy to dock. Making the ZenBeam Go E1Z is really easy. There's no HDMI port but all a user needs to do is connect their laptop or a mobile device with the bundled microUSB cable (also includes a USB Type-C connector). Projecting from a mobile device requires a couple of apps to be installed and only works if you have an Android device. iPhone and iPad users need not try.

As far as projection quality goes, the E1Z does its job well given how small the device is. The device can go as large as 120-inches with 150 lumens bright lamp, WVGA (854x480) resolution, contrast ratio of 3500:1 and 100 per cent NTSC colour saturation. The projector also comes with a 2W speaker but given how weak it is, you'll be better off connecting an external speaker through the 3.5mm audio port. Interestingly, the device can also double up as a power bank for mobile devices. ZenBeam Go E1Z is priced at R30,000, which is certainly is on the pricier side for a portable projector. But that said, the its portability and ease of use do make it easy for everyone to enjoy their content anywhere, anytime.
