Come together to blow off some steam with sports, clean-ups and a film festival at the Juhu Beach this

Life’s a ‘beach’

The nine-day Beach Festival invites one and all to celebrate the Juhu Beach in Mumbai through a wide range of fun activities. File pic

We’ve laughed with friends here, made Instagram Reels, had arguments and cried over break-ups with the waves for company. Now, we get a chance to celebrate the Juhu beach, that has been synonymous with the city for as long as one can remember.

The Mumbai festival, which promises a plethora of fun stuff over a nine-day period, brings with it the first ever Beach festival at Juhu this month. The festival is aimed to be an opportunity for NGOs, celebrities and the general public to come together to clean the beach. But that’s just one part of it.

The nine-day fun fest also has workout and yoga activities for you to de-stress, re-wind and recharge, starting at 6 am every day. As the day progresses, you can participate in football and volleyball matches for that Goa vacation feel.

And if you want nothing to do with this extra-enthu behaviour, that’s fine too. Just take your camera along and let your inner director loose, so that you can put it together for a film. Why? Because the NFDC, PVR and the United Nations India are hosting the Earth Movie Challenge, where films themed around sustainable living will be screened at the beach, right under the stars, on the final day of the festival.

“The Mumbai Festival will reflect the vibrant spirit Mumbai embodies. It will showcase everything Mumbai offers for people from every walk of life. This festival will turn the entirety of Mumbai into a festival that one will never forget. A celebration of this magnitude will only highlight Mumbai’s unique character globally, attracting tourists from all over the world who come to witness the depth of our city’s legacy,” says Girish Mahajan, Minister of Tourism, Maharashtra.
