The year 2020 will be remembered for many reasons. For artists, it’s important because it offered people the chance to experience every human emotion, from helplessness (but also, compassion) and anger (but also, love) to fear (but also, heroism), ugliness (but also, beauty) and restlessness. It seems then that Navrasa has arrived just in time-at a transition point when a new dawn breaks, making us hope for a better future.

Kala Ghoda art gallery DAG is hosting Navrasa-The Nine Emotions of Art, which includes stellar works by Indian masters. These are seen through the lens of the aesthetic expression of nine bhavas or emotions that lies at the foundation of Indian art. It is being simultaneously held in New Delhi and Mumbai (last day of showing today), and includes prints, paintings and sculptures. A total of 129 works by 85 artists are on display.

Ashish Anand, CEO-MD, DAG, says, “We will long remember 2020 for the havoc that it created, but also for the path to hope it ignited. To mark an event that has reshaped our lives, I wanted to hold an exhibition to mark the transition from 2020 to 2021. Navrasa allows you to revisit the many moods we experienced last year and their relationship with each. It’s seen through the eyes of artists, who are forever calibrating the world as they see it.”

When: Till January 10
