For the promiscuous hearted, in terms of perfume, the discovery set holds the key. Made up of four travel-sized spray bottles (10 ml for R 1,499), you can choose your fragrances from those for men, women, and unisex: pop a different one into your bag each day. It’s also a good way to try them all out before committing to a 50 ml bottle. Our set for summer is made up of aqua and vanilla tones, from both genders: Island Water, Beach Holiday, Citrus Amber and Vanilla Wood.

Scent of the city

Would you like to smell like a cutting? Loudly vocal for [Mumbai] local, here’s an homage to Indian notes with the best-selling unisex concoction: Chai Musk. With minimalist packaging, this really has the ingredients that would go into a nice cup of tea—top notes of lemongrass, ginger root and green tea, with a finish that includes hot milk accord. Do not place next to biscoot.

Kannauj of Uttar Pradesh has been an ittar Mecca for hundreds of years, especially for the traditional distillation process of indigenous tea roses. Now the millennia-old deg-bhapka technique of slow distillation comes in a new bottle and the scents remain earthy: The petrichor-reminiscent Maati, and evocative Gulabi and Audh are the ones to make your trademark.

French kiss it

If that smells Indo-French, you are right on the nose. Bringing together desi notes of jasmine, rose and sandalwood with French perfumery techniques, this one is for the flirtatious. The Pairing set gives you 10 2 ml bottles for R499, with suggestions on which scents would go well together,
