His two wives
Jayaram Nanappa Naik,u00a0suspended Motor Vehicle Inspector, RTO Office, Raichur has two wives one official and the other unofficial, Balaraj, Lokayukta inspector, Bijapur, told MiD DAY in an exclusive interview.
When his first wife didn't bear him any children, he started having an affair with another woman who bore himu00a0 a few children. He soon left his first wife and started living with his partner.
Though there are no records to say she is his wife, the school register names him as the father of her children, Balaraj said.
Naik showered her with gifts including a building worth Rs 20 lakh and gold accessories worth Rs 5 lakh, he said.
Naik joined service in 1991 and today owns property worth Rs 2 crore and 45 acres of garden, all of which show his corruption, Balaraj said.
Rajashekhar Kasanappa Nayaka, deputy superintendent of police in Jamakhandi sub-division of Bagalkot, who was also raided, donated a building worth Rs 15 lakh to his 'special' wife, a famous cyclist, said Kambar, Lokayukta DSP of Bagalkot.
Bathing with music
Jagadeeshwarappa, an inspector of motor vehicles at Koppal's RTO, owns an Italian kitchen set worth Rs 3 lakh and a made-in-USA bathtub worth a lakh that even has a music system. He also owns 20 pairs of shoes, 10 pairs of sandals, a dining tableu00a0 worth Rs 70,000, four dressing tables worth Rs 65,000 each and a sofa set costing Rs 40,000. He has more than 20 different foreign perfumes and uses only imported soaps and creams, said Shirakol, inspector in Gulbarga.
Bullocks: 7 lakh
Pandari Mallappa Dodla, warehouse manager in Shorapur, Gulbarga, owns over 150 acres and 14 bullocks worth Rs 7 lakh used for races.
His sofa set is worth Rs 2 lakh and the swing in his house costs Rs 1.5 lakh. He also owns four sites and four houses in his hometown and Gulbarga. Police have confiscated a rifle and revolver to check if they are licensed.
Accountant: 1 crore
Village accountant M Krishne Gowda, who is working at Doddatogooru Circle, Begur Hobli, Bangalore,u00a0 has assets worth at least Rs1.07 crore. Another government servant, Shankara Kollura, deputy revenueu00a0 officer in Mahanagara Palike, Gulbarga, has six motor bikes and two four-wheelers. His total income is round Rs 20 lakh but he has assets worth at least Rs 1.05 crore. And nine passbooks and two bankers are yet to be verified.
Our White House
K M Dharmappa, TMC commissioner in Hassan, owns a building in Shimoga that resembles the White House and is worth around Rs 80 lakh. His total property is over Rs 1.5 crore. The figure may touch Rs 2 crore once the bank locker is opened.
