One of the most well hidden treasures in Vietnam is the cuisine! No matter how delicious literally every dish is in this country, it always seems to take a backseat to China, Japan and Thailand as far as Asian cuisine is concerned.

3 Reasons Why Vietnam Is a Vacation Paradise for Foodies

Why this should be is still a mystery among travelers who make it a point to visit Vietnam as often as possible.

There is nothing quite like a vacation in Vietnam for a foodie who always ends up thinking that somehow there was a mistake in their travel itinerary. Did they really land in paradise or is this a land of some of the best food known to humanity? We’ll let you decide that for yourselves! Here’s what we know.

1. The Best Street Food in the Entire World!

This may surprise you but most travelers returning from their first trip to Vietnam state emphatically that this is the best street food they’ve ever tasted anywhere on earth. There were times when they thought maybe it was Mexico and South America that are also world-famous for street foods, but then again, maybe it was Thailand.

All of those were proclaimed the best places for street food until that traveler made their way into Vietnam. With that said, be prepared to spend more than you had bargained for or have someone back home ready to use the app for Ria Money Transfer to send money because you will literally be eating your way through the streets and local markets.

2. Walking the Streets Adds to That Insatiable Hunger!

As if a foodie ever needed an excuse to have one more spring roll or side of fried rice Vietnamese style, this would be one they could try to get away with. After all, Vietnam is green and beautiful every season of the year which leads most visitors to a photo-shooting adventure in which they really do work up an appetite. At least they say they do!

In reality, what made them so hungry was the thought of going back for yet another serving of:

  • Bot chien – Vietnamese fried dough
  • Pho – Vietnamese pho noodles
  • Cha gio – egg rolls
  • Goi cuon – spring rolls (as mentioned above)
  • Banh khot – mini pancakes Vietnamese style
  • Banh trang nuong – Vietnamese grilled rice paper

And these are just a few of the classic Vietnamese street foods most popular among Western foodies.

3. Another Taste to Duplicate That Recipe

This is yet another excuse, another reason to call Vietnam a foodie’s paradise. Everything is made with fresh vegetables daily and the spices are a bit different than in other Asian cuisines. This means that in order to duplicate that taste back home, they need to sample it again and again and again. It seems as though there is no end in sight to the amazing ways in which the cuisine continues to delight and it is an assortment of flavors you aren’t soon to forget.

Did you say we’re going to Hue next year since we visited Hanoi this year? That could be wonderful because we have yet to try those Bun bo Hue everyone is raving about. Beef noodles Hue style? That sounds wonderful to us. Are you ready to join us next year? We can take turns rolling each other home from paradise. The food is just that good!
