Any quintessential Punjabi bride’s wedding day outfit isn’t complete till she adorns on both her wrists a gorgeous set of traditional bangles in ivory and red called “Chooda.” The red colour of this set of bangles is believed to bring good luck to the newlyweds because red represents fertility and prosperity. Though the chooda is worn between 40 days and 1.5 years after the wedding, its impact is felt for the rest of the life because it is a very essential part of a typical Punjabi dulhan’s wedding attire. Perhaps that is why singer and Bigg Boss contestant Afsana Khan is on cloud nine because she got Delhi’s famous jewellery stylists, Om Sons’ Sunny Shandil to design a special red Kundan Chooda and silver kaleera for her Feb 19 wedding.

Afsana Khan, who is known for the latest Punjabi chartbuster “Titliyaan”, is happy that her Chooda and Kaleera, both have been designed by Om Sons. Talking about her prize possession for her D-day, she said, “No Punjabi wedding is complete unless the bride wears the chooda and kaleere on her arms. I am happy that Sunny Shandil of Om Sons made this occasion even more memorable for me by customizing a beautiful silver kaleera for me.”
Sunny Shandil recently also designed the chooda-kaleera set for TV star Shradda Arya of the “Kundali Bhagya” fame. Shradda chose to marry Navy Officer Rahul, in an intimate ceremony while wearing Om Sons’ chooda with her bridal outfit. The jewellery stylist to the stars, who picked up the pieces to go with Shradda’s wedding dress, explained what he did to make the bride look more beautiful, “I chose a very beautiful golden Kaleera, which very well complimented her red attire with golden metallic work on it. For her Haldi, we thought to keep it subtle and went for a floral teeka and necklace.”
The list of Sunny’s loyalist brides is endless. One more name in that list is that of Shefali Bagga, popular TV anchor and former Bigg Boss participant. She has also reportedly finalized Om Sons and Sunny Shandil as the jewellery stylist for her special day and several ceremonies that go with it.
Talking about what goes into making a bride feel special on the most special day of her life, Sunny says, “At Om Bridal Store, it has been our tradition to work in sync with the bride’s vision of herself on her wedding day. We customize the jewellery, including chooda, exactly the way she wants. It is a privilege to help bring a genuine smile to a bride’s face because that smile is going to last a lifetime!”
Giving details about Shraddha Arya’s wedding celebrations, Sunny, who was invited to the ceremony, shared this, “The best moment would be bride Shraddha's entry. As she walked towards the groom, friends and family held a chadar of flowers above her while 'Din Shagna Da' played in the background."
