S.R.Gopal Rao is a Bangalore heritage brand. Born in 1936, S.R.Gopal Rao or SRGR as it is fondly referred to, is a chain of luxury opticians steeped in the history of Bangalore and has been serving eyecare and eyewear to over 500000 plus people of different generations & eras in the last nine decades. SRGR has been dispensing optics for the last 85 years and even longer under the name of S.N.Rama Rao who was S.R.Gopal Rao father. S.N.Rama Rao was an optician, watchmaker and a dentist and the personal optician to the Erstwhile Maharaja of Mysore. The spectacles that he had once dispensed are present amongst the Maharaja belongings in his private museum.

Their home brand, Getspexy, represents their vision of fun, chic, and responsibly made products. Under this brand they have created their own line of wooden eyewear, and zero waste packaging that is fully compostable, biodegradable, sustainable, easy to recycle and ecologically sound. They even accept the return of their cardboard packaging from customers, which can also be discarded via the local raddiwala and have eyewear waste collection bins at all of their store locations, thus contributing zero waste to the environment. Having previously collaborated with a number of brands, including The Second Life and The Wolf Jaipur, who take discarded lenses and turn them into beautiful products, SRGR is slowly but steadily making its foray not only into eco friendly eyewear but also its commitment to being a sustainable business in the eyewear industry. In the fashion of a true market leader, SRGR is not only adopting greener practices to become a zero waste company but also striving to set an example for other practices in the industry to do the same.

Thanks to the lineage that S.R.Gopal Rao Opticians comes with, they have access to several brands that they retail exclusively to their customers in the city. They retail close to 80 luxury and premium brands in both spectacle frames and sunglasses and are authorised retailers for all specialised lenses from brands like Essilor, Nikon, Carl Zeiss, Rodenstock and so on. Some of the luxury brands they retail are Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani, Bvlgari, Moscot, Silhouette, Maui Jim, Versace, Prada, Lindberg among many others.
