Global Healthcare Advisor Vijay Dhawangale

Global Healthcare Advisor Vijay Dhawangale recognizes the importance of promoting this day and spreading awareness to tackle condition responsible for most early deaths. "Avoiding cardiovascular disease (CVD) is something that matters to every beating heart" says Vijay Dhawangale while addressing a web conference for the members of Global Association for GSP on World Heart Day 2022.

Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are a group of disorders of the heart and blood vessels, including coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease, rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart disease, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. An estimated 17.9 million people died from CVDs in 2016, representing 31% of all global deaths. Of these deaths, 85% were due to heart attack and stroke. According to WHO, in 2016 India reported 63% of total deaths due to Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), of which 27% were attributed to CVDs. CVDs also account for 45% of deaths in the 40-69-year age group. NCDs are one of the major challenges for public health in 21st century.

On a global scale, CVD has become one of the most serious diseases that endangers human health and causes death and seriously threatens human life and health. If we can make accurate, timely, and effective judgments on cardiovascular-related parameters and take corresponding effective measures, the incidence of cardiovascular diseases can be reduced to a large extent. According to Vijay, majority life threatening diseases gives you a time, in case of a Cancer, you know how much time you have but heart disease is the most dangerous of all, it's instant and doesn’t give any time to even plan for succession.

According to Vijay, you can’t always prevent heart disease. That’s because some risk factors are out of your control. But there’s a lot you can do to lower your risk. Lowering cholesterol and blood pressure can help to reduce the risk of heart attack, even in patients who show no early signs of heart disease. If you feel unwell and are having any of the symptoms such as Chest discomfort, Discomfort in other areas of the upper body. Pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach, Shortness of breath with or without chest discomfort please see your doctor.

Preventive health check-up is undoubtedly the key to live a healthier life. even after taking all the necessary steps, our health is still at risk of falling prey to diseases unexpectedly. A preventive health check-up is, therefore, aimed to recognize and minimize such risk at an early stage. "Ideally, a person at age 40 and beyond should opt for CT Angiography along with other cardiac tests to screen and detect diseases at an early stage", remarks Dhawangale.

Learning you have heart disease can cause a mix of emotions. But this is a time to look forward. Commit to building a plan to help your heart. Work with your physician to adopt lifestyle changes that feel manageable to you. Learn about treatment options, including medications, and how they support your heart health. Tell your family and friends about your goals and how they can help you. This is your journey, but you don’t have to do it alone.
