Aamir Khan's best buddy Amin Hajee recommended the star's former co-star Gracy Singh for Vikram Bhatt's recent release
There had been a great deal of buzz about the rapport Gracy Singh (remember her?) had with her Lagaan co-star Aamir Khan. Even though he had launched her, she apparently felt left out after the Lagaan hoopla. So it was a surprise to see her — after a hiatus — in Dangerous Ishhq penned by Aamir’s best buddy Amin Hajee.

The actress-danseuse says, “Amin suggested my name to director Vikram Bhatt. He has been my friend since the Lagaan days in which he also acted. I did it for a friend.” Adds Gracy, “As I am a trained dancer, Amin felt I would fit the role of a Krishna devotee. I do a lot of Radha-Meera dance shows especially during Janmashtami.”
About her rapport with Aamir, she states, “He remains a friend. I was part of Lagaan’s 10th anniversary celebrations last year. The fact that Amin recommended me says it all.”
After a dream launch in Lagaan (2001), Gracy went on to do films like Munnabhai MBBS, Gangaajal and Armaan (2003). She then hit a roadblock and has been seen in forgettable films all these years. Some projects of hers never saw light of day while she had reservations about doing some dare-bare roles initially and turned it down.
Apart from her dance shows, Gracy has also been doing South films. “I did not do Dangerous Ishhq to attract attention or to bag more projects. It was a character I felt suited me perfect.”
Even after a decade, Gracy is best remembered for her TV show Amaanat besides Lagaan. “I am really fortunate that the audience still remembers me after so many years. I am happy with whatever I did, some worked, some didn’t,” says Gracy who is now looking forward to a dance-based film with Hema Malini.u00a0
