All the three releases from last week failed to create any impression

'Aatma', 'Rangrezz' and 'Sona Spa' suffer at the box office

Last week was a rather damp squib at the box office as all the three releases of the week -- Rangrezz, Aatma and Sona Spa -- turned out to be disappointing.

While the audience steered clear of the three films, the previous week’s releases Jolly LLB and Mere Dad Ki Maruti registered significant footfall.

Subhash Kapoor’s film collected a significant amount of Rs 4.75 crore in its second weekend with Friday being Rs 1 crore, Saturday being Rs 1.75 crore and Sunday being bringing in Rs 2 crore. The 10-day total of the film now stands at around Rs 23.75 crore with the first week collecting around R s19.03 crore. Mere Dad… collected around R s7.44 crore in its opening week.

Friday’s Sona Spa proved to be a complete disaster and its opening weekend collections turned out to be extremely poor, well below Rs 35 lakh. The Bipasha Basu starrer did get decent reviews but the film’s collections are only average and it made around Rs 5.14 crore in its opening weekend (Friday being Rs 1.52 crore, Saturday being Rs 1.73 crore and Sunday being R 1.89 crore).

The Jackky Bhagnani starrer made around Rs 3.75 crore (Friday -- Rs 1.03 crore, Saturday Rs 1.17 crore and Sunday being R 1.55 crore.)

Trade analyst Amod Mehra says, “All the three films have been very poor, making Jolly LLB and Mere Dad Ki Maruti safe films. Makrand Deshpande’s film is a disaster and the audience couldn’t connect with Aatma. Rangrezz saw no improvement in its collections and will lose money everywhere. These films won’t last beyond one week.”

Trade guru Atul Mohan says, “The collections show that it was a bad week at the marquee. Rangrezz did get decent reviews and the audience gave a mixed response. Aatma is completely soulless and Sona Spa is very poor. Despite a festive period, chances are very bleak for these films.”
