Alia Bhatt’s track in the film, 'Highway', mirrors the story of a fan
In an open letter to filmmaker Imtiaz Ali on a blog (moifightclub), a female fan has disclosed that the protagonist (Alia Bhatt)’s life bears an uncanny resemblance to hers. Not just that, the song 'Pataka Guddi' has also motivated her to live life on her own terms.

The fan, who goes by the name @kuhukuro on a microblogging site, has described her personal tragedies online. Excerpts from her post read: “For starters, I was also sexually abused as a child, and the perpetrator was a close relative. I could relate to the lingering and stealthy effect of the trauma depicted on screen. I also disclosed this fact to my family after entering adulthood. The film’s portrayal of the family’s reaction mirrored my situation. Watching Veera intrepidly telling it like it is and being unapologetically ‘herself’ in the last scene was heart-wrenching yet therapeutic for me. I have not allowed myself that outburst though. Not yet.”
She also talks about how her father’s death changed her life and has likened it to a particular scene in the film. At the end of her post, she has thanked Imtiaz for making 'Highway'. “Your film will be a part of the trajectory that is turning me into a functional, healthy, and a fulfilled woman... Along the way, I will live like I mean it.”
