'Rockstar' Ranbir Kapoor speaks after wining our poll
You have won the Mid-Day poll for the Best Actoru00a0in 2011. How does it feel?
I feel a sense of gratification and calmness. We worked so hard on the film, so it eases us to see that people have liked it. I attribute their compliments to the character they connected with. And of course, Imtiaz Ali for guiding me in the right direction.

Did you anticipate Rockstar would be your highest opening so far?
Not really. It's not a film that is spoon-feeding the audience. It lets you draw your own interpretation of love.
Share with us some of the compliments you've received since the film released.
Considering the feedback, it feels great to be accepted by the industry you look up to. For the first time my dad was so vocal. He said if Raj Kapoor had been around, he'd have loved my performance and the film. For me that's the biggest compliment. And Amitabh Bachchan wrote a personal letter, praising my performance ufffdMy grand-uncle Shashi Kapoor going to a theatre after 15 years and saying that the boy is very good.
The transformation from Janardhan to Jordan didn't seem like much of a struggle.
I don't think so. Maybe because I've been so close to the film, believed and lived the experience.
