This one is less of a film, more of a lecherous middle-aged man’s fantasy gone haywire. The intention of writer-director Devang Dholakia is clear from the very first scene — make Sunny Leone slip into skimpy clothes and let her loose in a place full of perverts. And get a wafer-thin storyline weaved around this corny motive to make it look like a full-fledged film.
Ram Kapoor plays Praveen Patel, a 45-year-old store owner in Malaysia, who is married with a grown-up son. Patel and his two cronies are embarrassingly blatant about checking out young women in parks, gyms and other public places. Patel also lusts after a Bollywood ‘superstar’ called Shanaya (Sunny Leone) and manages to get himself a Valentine’s Day date with her. There is a parallel love story with Patel’s son Jigar (an actor with bulging biceps and no expressions) and his girlfriend Naina (Evelyn Sharma in cleavage baring outfits and no expressions).
The director, who obviously belongs to the old school C-grade film of thought and believes that ‘a drenched heroine is a hot heroine’, makes sure that Sunny stays dunked in a swimming pool most of the time. And you see her walking in and out of a pool multiple times flaunting her ample cleavage, in every other scene. There is even an inane song dedicated to the pool. Never mind.
It is sad that the ‘adult comedy’ genre in Bollywood now largely seems limited to ‘concepts’ written with Sunny Leone and a few men lusting around her in mind. It seems like the perfect excuse for lazy filmmakers and script writers to jump in on the ‘Sunny’ bandwagon with the hope of making a quick buck.
One is definitely surprised by Ram Kapoor’s recent choice of films. Why would he bring himself down to this, where all he is expected to do is contort his face and try hard to look and behave like a sidey, C-grade actor?
Avoid this, unless Sunny Leone in a pool is part of your fantasy package too.
