Director Kabir Khan sets the record straight that 'Ek Tha Tiger' is not based on any true incident

'Not creating a James Bond replica here!'

There is a buzz doing the rounds that Kabir Khan’s forthcoming film is actually based on a true story. The claim was originally made by the kin of former RAW agent Ravindra Kaushik. According to them, this Salman Khan-starrer spy thriller has been inspired by Kaushik’s life.

The director of the film, Kabir Khan who also co-wrote the script however disagrees and says the entire film is a fictitious work. He also points to the huge amount of time and work invested by him and his co-writer Neelesh Misra in framing the entire plot.

“Neelesh did extensive research to gauge the environment in which spies operate. We are not creating a James Bond replica here! Our film is not based on anyone’s life, either. And to be frank, I’ve never heard of Ravindra Kaushik before this news cropped up,” he says.

In the same vein, there were also reports that Salman Khan interfered a lot in the making of the film. Kabir explains that wasn’t the case as he usually welcomes ideas from his actors and downplays the whole story.

He adds, “I guess it’s been dragged out of proportion. In fact, I enjoy opinions from all the staff members, not only actors. Apart from Salman, even Katrina Kaif was providing inputs because each actor approaches his or her character in their own unique way. I can’t be creatively arrogant and discard everybody else’s views.” u00a0
