Umesh Bist’s film, 'O Teri', features some interesting real-life incidents and one of them revolves around the Commonwealth Games scam, which sent shockwaves through the country back in 2010.

It may be recalled that this scam resulted in the arrest of former Union Minister and president of the organising committee, Suresh Kalmadi. A source says, “Pulkit Samrat and Bilal Amrohi play journalists in the film and accordingly, a lot of real-life incidents have been incorporated in the movie.

One of the incidents is based on the Commonwealth Games scam. The two actors are shown as looking for a big story to boost their career and they then stumble upon a huge fraud that is said to have taken place during the Asian Olympics. Here too, a minister is accused of corruption and is arrested.”

Interestingly, the film’s crew has been advised to be tight-lipped about these similarities.

Says a crewmember on condition of anonymity, “With the film featuring sensitive subjects such as the involvement of high profile personalities in scams, and copious amounts of money being spent on organising a sports tournament, one can not overlook the uncanny resemblance between the real and the reel. But the makers don’t want to invite any trouble before the release of the film.”

When contacted, Umesh Bist said that the entire film has been inspired by real-life events. “However I would not like reveal anything now,” he said.
